Perico Sambeat (sax) and Viktoria Pilatovich (vocals) - a Spanish duet with a Lithuanian flavor will appear on the stage of Klaipėda Castle Jazz Festival together with one of the most expressive jazz orchestras in Lithuania Klaipeda Jazz Orchestra.
Viktorija, born in Klaipeda, Lithuania, and a Spanish jazz saxophonist Perico Sambeat are not only exclusive jazz performers but also the instructors at one of the world’s most famous music colleges Berklee College of Music at Berklee’s campus in Valencia, Spain.
Perico Sambeat is nominated by the music critics not only as the best Spanish but also as one of the best European alto saxophonists. After playing jazz locally his reputation gradually spread throughout Spain and by the late 80s his international reputation was established. Perico performed at many festivals around the world, won several awards and recorded dozens of music recordings and albums as a leader and as a sideman with other well-known jazz musicians. In addition to numerous concerts, recordings, teaching at Berklee College of Music, today, Perico Sambeat is also a leader his Jazz Ensemble.
Born in Klaipeda, Lithuania jazz vocalist and composer Viktorija Pilatovich began her musical career at the age of 6 when she started playing classical piano, winning many piano competitions for young pianists. In 2007, being not only a gifted pianist but also the owner of a unique voice, she began her Bachelor studies in Jazz Vocal at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. In 2010, Viktorija moved to The Netherlands to further her jazz studies at Prins Claus Conservatorium and in 2013 she went to Quito, Ecuador to teach classes of Jazz Vocal. In 2016 she moved back to Europe after she was granted a full scholarship at Berklee College of Music. Currently Viktorija is able to boast of being invited to join the teaching staff at Berklee as well as of her active performing and recordings as a solo artist and with other musicians. She won several awards and performed in many famous European jazz festivals such as Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland.
